CHIEF ENGINEER-MAIN LINE BROADCASTING


Main Line Broadcasting looking for an experienced Chief Engineer for our 4-station cluster in Richmond, Virginia. This includes 4 full power FM stations, as well as combined studio facilities. A high level of IT experience, as well as RF skills are required.

The Chief Engineer will be responsible for market FCC compliance, establishing priorities in coordination with other departments, participating in planning facility upgrades, new equipment installation, maintaining a good working relationship with management and staff and hands-on installation and maintenance.

This position reports to the Market Manager and Corporate Engineer.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self starter responsible for maintaining collocated studios, FM transmitter sites, associated STL systems, IP audio delivery systems, remote controls, studio equipment, AudioVAULT automation system, business computers, networking equipment and servers.

Qualifications:

- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure including network administration and software systems management.
- The ideal candidate will also have a minimum of 5 years of radio broadcast experience as Chief Engineer or Assistant Chief Engineer; SBE Certification or General Radiotelephone license.
- Be able to maintain analog and digital studio and processing equipment, STL equipment, and transmitters.
- Be able to perform first level maintenance on business computers and PCs, perform required system monitoring to establish integrity of hardware, server resources, verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Create, change, and delete user accounts. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with all impacted parties.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be familiar with AudioVault hardware and software and ability to participate in planning for future replacement.
- Have knowledge of FCC Rules and Regulations.
- Strong desire to be a team player and appreciate a professional work environment. Understand the need for each department to work with and support the others.
- Be on-call 24/7.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license and ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and undertake other physical duties necessary to accomplish the job.

Responsibilities include:
· driving station vehicles
· help set up station equipment/promotional materials for station events/remotes
· be a part of the support, development and execution of all promotion efforts
 
Requirements:
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· Must possess strong marketing/promotional background (as either educational focus or equivalent experience.)
· Must possess strong written and verbal skills.
· Must have excellent organizational skills with multi-task capabilities
· Must work in a cooperative manner; be able to interact effectively with all station personnel, clients, outside vendors and listeners.
· Must project an appropriate company image with respect to dress and demeanor.
· Must work independently, if necessary, and operate effectively in high-pressure, time-critical situations.
· Must be able to work weeknights and weekends in order to attend and execute station events and promotional activities.
· Must possess valid driver’s license and a demonstrated good driving record for operation of station vehicles.
· Must be able to lift and transport various equipment, including heavy items up to 50 lbs., and/or 20 lbs. of force frequently; substantial physical movement is required.
